Shanna Peterson trained in both the RAD and Cecchetti methods of ballet during school. After which she obtained a National Diploma in Drama and Dance from Natal Technikon. She ran Sunshine Yoga Studio on the South Coast of KZN for 3yrs after moving to Westville to run Power Pilates Studio in 2014 heading up the pilates and yoga at the Westville branch, until she relocated to Bryanston beginning of this year and joined 340 On Main. Shanna is BASI Pilates and Yoga Alliance certified.

Pilates is an integrated approach to exercise that was pioneered by a man called Joseph Pilates. Born with many ailments as a child he grew determined to strengthen his body not just in the physical sense but as a whole. There are many teaching and training methods in Pilates today but ultimately Pilates aims to connect mind and body through a series of exercises that focus on:

  • Correct breathing patterns
  • Alignment of the pelvis, ribcage, shoulder girdle and head
  • Improve body awareness
  • Stability and control
  • Axial elongation of the spine.

We offer a variety of classes

*Bookings are essential for all classes and cancellations under 12 hours are charged in full. How often you attend a class depends on you and your goals but on average the best results from Pilates and Barre come from 2 to 3 sessions a week.
